CBS Prez Has ?High Level Of Concern? About Charlie Sheen
As long as Charlie can keep his carousing on the weekends and his jail time/rehab stints on the off-season, it looks like no one in charge is actually going to ask anything of the highest-paid actor on television. Especially when America somehow can’t stop watching Two And A Half Men—still the no. 1 sitcom after eight long years. There’s your moral, kids: those who work hard get to play hard.

Cage The Elephant Carry Alt-Rock Flag Into 2011
Thank You, Happy Birthday band is one of MTV News' 11 for '11 stars to watch.
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Sasha Hamrogue

Cage the Elephant toured long and hard behind their 2008 self-titled debut, wowing fans on both sides of the Atlantic with their high-intensity live shows, scoring a pair of rock-radio hits and generally learning the ropes from the likes of Silversun Pickups and Stone Temple Pilots, both of whom they toured with.
In other words, they earned their success the old-fashioned way, and now they're ready to take the next step. On Tuesday, they released their second album, Thank You, Happy Birthday — which is equally indebted to both the Pickups (who memorialize the 1990s) and the Pilots (who lived through them) — and they're already gaining traction with the album's first single, "Shake Me Down."
MTV News expects 2011 will be a big year for the Bowling Green, Kentucky, quintet, which is why we've tapped them as one of our 11 for '11 stars to watch.
Of course, months ago, there was a very real chance that none of this would've happened. Weary from nearly three years on the road, the band began work on Birthday, and sessions were proving difficult, to say the least.
"We had written like 80 different song ideas, and I feel like we were really trying to write to a particular sound — like, what we thought Cage the Elephant should sound like — and we were pigeonholing ourselves," frontman Matt Shultz revealed, laughing.
"We all started writing songs on our own, and they were really different from what we had written before, so we were like, 'We should use these for a side project,' " he continued. "And after a while, we realized most of the songs we liked were 'side-project songs,' [so] we made it our album."
Birthday showcases a fuzzy, rough-hewn side of Cage, which has as much to do with their decision to start fresh as it does with Shultz's personal struggles — and his newfound love of the Pixies.
"At the time, I had just broken up with my girlfriend of five years, and I'd drive around until like 3 or 4 in the morning listening to Doolittle," he said with a sigh. "It was my therapy, I guess."
And he carried that therapy into the songs he wrote for the album, which — like all great '90s alt-rock tunes — delve headlong into themes like heartbreak, loss and alienation, and they do so unapologetically.
"It's not something I think you should try to hide, and especially don't try to change your behavior," Shultz said. "You don't want to end up like some people, where their lives have been torn to shreds and they're, like, smeared in the press. I'd rather people know everything that's terrible about me than hide all the terrible things and have them come out."
So, with Birthday behind them, Cage the Elephant are pushing forward. They'll open a few dates for the Black Keys, then begin a headlining tour of their own next month. And like all the thrift-store Titans that went before them (seriously, if you're jonesing for an alt-rock fix, Thank You, Happy Birthday is the album for you), they're doing it all their way, mostly by the seat of their pants. After all, they've sort of earned that right.
"We try not to concern ourselves too much with strategic plans and all that," Shultz said, laughing. "We'll see what happens."

Drake Reveals Plans For Album With Lil Wayne
Drizzy jokes to Tim Westwood about rivaling Kanye and Jay-Z's Watch the Throne.
By Alvin Blanco
Drake and Lil Wayne
Photo: Julia Beverly
Jay-Z and Kanye West already have two potential challengers to their upcoming Watch the Throne. In an interview with U.K. radio personality Tim Westwood, Drake announced that he and Lil Wayne are working on a joint album of their own, and he took a couple of jabs at Hova and Yeezy's project in the process.
"I'll be on [Tha Carter IV], though ... We've done a great song ... and then we're going to do another one, and another one," the Young Money MC said. "We still got to do that album. I heard some other guys are coming out with an album, too. There's two other rappers that are coming out with an album together. ... I don't know where they got that idea but ..."
Westwood probably knew Drake was referring to Jay-Z and West but played into the coy act, saying, "I'm very slow; can you just break it down a bit simpler for me please?"
Then Drake continued, "I just caught wind of it through the grapevine, that there's some other album coming out with two guys that rapping on it too."
"Oh, those two ... you mean the older guys," Westwood said.
"Oh, I didn't say that," Drake replied. "They look young to me ... in their movements."
West and Drake haven't been as close as they seemed back in 2009, when Yeezy directed the up-and-comer's video for "Best I Ever Had." The Toronto rapper recently was left off of the final version of West's "All of the Lights," but he told Shade 45 radio that he was OK with it.
Drake's sophomore album, Take Care, is due later this year.

Doctors Stunned, Impressed by Recovery of Gabrielle Giffords
With a nation rallying behind her, Gabrielle Giffords is recovering at a rapid, awe-inducing pace from the tragic events of last weekend.
The Congresswoman is already sitting up and communicating with her hands, facts that have stunned doctors at Tucson's University Medical Center.
"She is able to move both of her legs on command," says neurosurgeon Michael Lemole. "That's huge. We say, 'Gabrielle, lift your legs up,' and she lifts both of them up."
As detailed Tuesday night by President Barack Obama, Giffords opened her eyes for the first time since the shooting soon after he paid her a hospital visit.
"That implies that the part of the brain that lets us awake from sleeping, the arousal center, is functioning," says Lemole. "Miracles happen every day. A lot of medicine is outside of our control, so we're wise to acknowledge miracles."
The surgeon concluded that the goal is to get Giffords sitting in a chair by the end of this weekend.

Lil Wayne Surfaces On DJ Khaled's 'Welcome To My Hood'
Rick Ross, Plies and T-Pain also appear on the Miami DJ's latest posse cut.
By Mawuse Ziegbe
Lil Wayne is getting back to one of the things he does best: tricking out collabos with his trademark lyricism.
On Thursday (January 13), DJ Khaled's latest star-studded posse cut and first Cash Money offering, "Welcome to My Hood" hit the Net, featuring bars from Weezy, fellow Florida rappers Rick Ross and Plies and rumored Young Money signee T-Pain.
The track, crafted by the Renegades, Khaled and the Nasty Beatmakers, features the victorious, speaker-shattering, hometown-pumping energy typical of the DJ's all-star collabos, with Pain belting lines like, "Everybody know everybody/ And if I got it, everybody got it," over the steely, bass-heavy beat.
Ross leads things off, balancing glossy images of Audemars Piguet-laced wrists and mortgage-payment-sized bar tabs with grimy street operations, wrapping up with, "The Ferrari just a front/ Got the Lambo in the back/ Told you we the best forever/ DJ Khaled handle that."
Plies follows with a souped-up, eardrum-busting flow, detailing the exploits of his city's hardened thugs. "I know some n---as from my 'hood that would've rocked Noriega/ I'm taking Noriega, n---a, the real Noriega," the Fort Myers rapper spits about hometown hooligans capable of ripping apart the infamous Panamanian politician and drug kingpin — not the Queens rapper Noreaga.
Wayne closes the track with lyrics that reference his return to the game — and Khaled-helmed collabos — after his 2010 prison stay. "Back from hell, cell 23/ Tell the warden kiss my ass, pockets are Mo'Nique," Weezy rhymes, shrugging off the drama of the jail bid. He also briefly touches on the 2007 weapons arrest that landed him in the pen, spitting, "Sh-- happens, and since I'm the sh--, I'm who it happened to." The I Am Not a Human Being rapper finishes with lines about his single-minded focus on re-conquering the game, rhyming, "All that bullsh-- is for the birds/ Throw some bread out/ Got it sewed up/ Check the thread count."
Khaled hinted to MTV News last year that the first single for the forthcoming We The Best Forever would get the Wayne treatment.
"When I work with Wayne, I always get the most classic verses, like 'We Taking Over,' " Khaled said. "And this verse with my new one, it's ... I'm not even gonna lie: It's amazing.
"It's one of them anthems that I do," he added. "The streets are gonna embrace it on another level. When you hear it you're gonna be like, 'This is what I'm talking about.' It's that anthem, I got them."
What do you think of DJ Khaled's "Welcome to My Hood" record? Let us know in the comments!

Exclusive: Eminem To Perform At The Grammys
Other performers for February 13 show will be announced Thursday.

Consider Eminem's comeback complete. The superstar MC will take the stage at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards next month in Los Angeles, MTV News has learned exclusively.
The Recording Academy will officially announce Em and other performers on Thursday; Pitchfork reported Wednesday (January 12) that Arcade Fire will also be performing at the awards show.
The performance is the latest in a line of accomplishments for Eminem since he released Recovery, which is up for Album of the Year. The Detroit lyricist scored a pair of #1 singles from the album with "Not Afraid" and "Love the Way You Lie," featuring Rihanna.
Those songs helped Em earn 10 Grammy nominations. It's quite a turnaround from his last project, Relapse. That album debuted at #1 but received mixed reviews, despite winning Best Rap Album at the 2009 Grammys. With Recovery, however, Em has returned to form.
Now, he's set to take center stage at the prestigious event. Twelve months ago, he joined Drake for the then-upstart's "Forever" performance. But for this year's telecast, the multiple Grammy winner will take top billing.
He's already been featured in the show's promotional campaign. A touching 30-second spot showcases Em's musical legacy, from the loss of his friend, fellow MC Proof, to his struggles through drug dependency and his rise back to the top of the hip-hop game.
There's no question the veteran MC will be the star of the festivities. In December, when nominations were revealed, the rapper led the pack, besting Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga, who received seven and six nominations, respectively.
The Grammys air Sunday, February 13, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
What song are you hoping Eminem performs at the Grammys? Let us know in the comments!

Guides To Social Media Marketing - Introduction
Social marketing was "born" as a discipline within the 1970s, when Philip Kotler and Gerald Zaltman realized that the exact same marketing principles that were getting employed to promote products to customers might be utilized to "sell" ideas, attitudes and behaviors. Kotler and Andreasen define social marketing as "differing from other areas of marketing only with respect towards the objectives with the marketer and his or her organization. Social marketing seeks to influence social behaviors not to advantage the marketer, but to advantage the target audience in addition to the general society." This technique has been utilized extensively in international wellness programs, specifically for contraceptives and oral rehydration therapy (ORT), and is being utilized with more frequency inside United States for these kinds of diverse topics as drug abuse, heart illness and organ donation.
Like industrial marketing, the major emphasis is about the consumer--on studying what individuals want and will need instead of attempting to persuade them to buy what we happen to be producing. Marketing talks for the shopper, not concerning the product. The planning method takes this client concentrate into account by addressing the elements from the "marketing mix." This refers to choices about 1) the conception of a Product, 2) Value, 3) distribution (Spot), and 4) Marketing. These are often called the "Four Ps" of marketing. Social marketing also adds a couple of more "P's." At the end is an example from the marketing combine.
Product
The social marketing "product" isn't necessarily a physical supplying. A continuum of products exists, ranging from tangible, bodily products (e.g., condoms), to services (e.g., medical exams), practices (e.g., breastfeeding, ORT or eating a heart-healthy diet) and finally, more intangible ideas (e.g., environmental protection)!!! So that you can have a viable product, individuals need to very first perceive that they have a genuine dilemma, and that the product supplying is a good answer for that problem. The role of research here is to discover the consumers' perceptions of the problem along with the product, and to determine how important they feel it's to take action against the issue.
Cost
"Price" refers to what the patron ought to do to be able to obtain the social marketing product. This price may possibly be monetary, or it may possibly instead need the buyer to give up intangibles, this sort of as time or effort, or to risk embarrassment and disapproval. If the charges outweigh the rewards for an individual, the perceived value of your supplying is going to be low and it will likely be unlikely to be adopted. Nevertheless, in the event the rewards are perceived as greater than their fees, chances of trial and adoption from the product is much higher.
